The Majid al-Futtaim project involves building a retail centre with 300,000 square metres of gross leasable space

Dubai-based developer Majid al-Futtaim has appointed US-based Aecom to deliver consultancy services for its Mall of Saudi project in Riyadh.

The four-year contract involves providing lead consultancy services for pre-contract and post-contract construction supervision on the project.

Mall of Saudi is a major component of the SR16bn ($4.3bn) Riyadh North masterplanned development that includes nine hotels and branded residences with 2,000 keys, 600 retail stores, and the largest ski slope and snow park in the Middle East.

The mall will have 300,000 square metres of gross leasable space.

The mall will feature a flagship Carrefour hypermarket and 31 VOX Cinema screens, including the world’s largest IMAX, and a Magic Planet.

MAF says leasing progress for the flagship retail space stands at about 50 per cent of the gross leasable area for both issued and signed proposals, excluding Ski Saudi.

MAF recently received bids from firms for the contract to provide project management services on the scheme.
