Saudi Aramco Development Company, a subsidiary of Aramco, has signed an agreement with US-headquartered Google Cloud to offer services to customers in Saudi Arabia.
The kingdom is being added to the global network of Google Cloud Platform regions, as part of the agreement signed earlier in December.
Google Cloud will establish and operate a new cloud region in Saudi Arabia, while a new company will be formed, following all required regulatory clearances, to supply cloud solutions and services to customers.
“This new cloud region will allow entities across the kingdom to grow and scale their offerings, while delivering digital products and services,” Aramco said on 21 December.
The collaboration taps into rapidly expanding cloud services demand in Saudi Arabia, which is expected to reach up to $10bn by 2030, Aramco added.
Saudi Aramco Development Company, on 21 December, also signed an agreement with Norway-based industrial software company Cognite to establish a joint venture that will focus on digitalisation in Saudi Arabia and the broader Middle East and North Africa region.
