Abu Dhabi launches 24-hour hotel licensing system
The Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) has introduced a 24-hour online application service for restaurants and nightclubs operating within hotels in the emirate that want to get an entertainment licence. The online system, which starts this week, can also process the necessary licence fee payments. Under the previous manual system it would take between two and six weeks to get a licence. -

Air Arabia has announced its net profit for the first half of this year stood at Dhs193m, an increase of 21% compared to Dhs160m for the first six months of last year. Air passenger numbers up in Dubai
Dubai Airport saw a 12.6% increase in passenger traffic in July, its highest monthly growth-rate since May 2008. The Chairman of hotel company EIH, part of the Oberoi Group, has said construction of its 252-room Oberoi-branded hotel in Business Bay, Dubai was 'progressing' and that it would open in 2011. Kuwait-based IFA Hotels and Resorts has reported its year end profits at KD30.85m ($108m), with revenues totalling KD52.8m ($184.67m). The Qatar National Cement Co (QNCC) has reported a 38% rise in net profits in the first half of this year over the corresponding period in 2008.
