The organisers of the Australian participation at Expo 2020 Dubai have announced the completion of construction and fitout works of their country pavilion.
Justin McGowan, Australia's commissioner general for Expo 2020 said in a video published by the official Twitter account that "this piece of Australia in Dubai will deliver an unparalled opportunity to showcase the pioneering and innovative spirit of Australians".
Excited to announce the completion of the #AustralianPavilion @expo2020dubai. Our committed & passionate team has concluded our construction & fitout. We look forward to giving you a warm Aussie welcome when the expo opens its doors in October! #GDayExpo2020 #Expo2020 #AusAtExpo pic.twitter.com/GXJ5U44i6I
Australia laid the foundation stone for its pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai on 12 November 2019. UK's Turner & Townsend is the consultant for the project, and Dubai-based ASGC's subsidiary Al-Shafar Interiors (ASI) was announced as the main contractor in October 2019 to oversee the design, build, fit-out, exhibition and content for the project.
Based on the theme 'Blue Sky Dreaming', the pavilion is located in the Mobility district and will celebrate the island continent's "indigenous connection to land, sky and sea and encapsulates the idea of blue sky thinking".
