The award of a major dredging contract at Egypt's Damietta Port has been postponed until the end of February.
KGL Ports International, the Kuwait-based operator which runs the site on Egypt's Mediterranean coast, has pushed back the date for opening bids from 14 February at the request of the bidders.
"The companies bidding all requested more time to study the site," says Mohamed al-Mazeedi, chairman of KGL. "They will prepare their bids in time for the end of the month."
KGL has not named the bidders, but Al-Mazeedi revealed that of the 14 companies to have initially expressed an interest, only eight had been attending pre-bid meetings.
