Delivering energy efficiency in the built environment: How operational processes, digitilisation and data are overhauling facilities management in the GCC. Click here to register

As the GCC region seeks to reduce its carbon footprint in line with the Paris climate change agreement, a huge opportunity exists to reduce energy consumption through the design, delivery and operation of energy-efficient structures.

While structures built to more exacting energy-efficiency standards currently make up only a small proportion of the GCC’s built environment, the efficient design and operation of facilities can also have a significant impact on not just energy consumption, but the overall performance and cost of buildings.

For existing buildings, even comparatively minor operational changes can often have a significant impact on overall energy consumption and performance.

Rising digitalisation, sensor miniaturisation, and the advance of big data and advanced analytical tools have also enhanced the tools available to building owners and operators for the purposes of monitoring and optimising their assets.

This broadcast from MEED, together with Siemens, will look at how shifting policy priorities and attitudes, as well as technological advances, are reshaping the way the built environment is being designed, delivered and operated with a view to energy efficiency.

Featuring exclusive insights from:

• Editorial director, MEED: Richard Thompson

• Senior executive vice-president, Siemens: Markus Strohmeier

• CEO Etihad ESCO: Ali al-Jassim
