33= Yanbu Export Refinery
Project Overview
In 2006, Saudi Aramco
and the US’ ConocoPhillips agreed to conduct a detailed evaluation of the development of a 400,000-barrel-a-day refinery in Yanbu.
Following a change in corporate strategy, ConocoPhillips has since withdrawn from the scheme, leaving Aramco in sole charge. The state oil giant has held talks with other potential partners, but so far no final agreements have been made.
A series of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) awards are expected to be made in the third quarter of 2010, as Aramco is keen to capitalise on low EPC costs.
