OGC loops in bidders for Barka terminal

Oman Gas Company (OGC) has invited companies to submit bids by 20 October for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for two loop lines and the Barka pressure reduction terminal (PRT). The project is expected to take 14 months to complete and involves the installation of a 38-kilometre-long, 24-inch-diameter gas pipeline from Murayarat to Rusayl, the new PRT, the Rusayl power plant spur line looping, and a 78-kilometre, 32-inch pipeline from Fahud to Sohar receiver station. The scope of works covers equipment, associated pipe work, tie-in work, structural steelwork, lighting and cables.

The PRT element at Barka includes the supply and installation of emergency shutdown (ESD) valves, filter separators, an instrument gas supply system, a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system, flow metering, electrical cables, utilities, as well as building work. OGC will supply the line pipe.

Bids are due to be submitted by 2 October to OGC for a project management services contract covering the loop line and PRT projects. The loop line project includes four other packages: the gas supply to Sohar Aluminiums 350,000-tonne-a-year smelter; gas supply to other industries at Sohar Industrial Port; a 32-inch gas loop line at Salalah and a compressor station at Nimr; and the construction of compressor stations and piping modifications at Murayarat and a compressor station at Buraimi (MEED 4:8:06).
