Irancell has launched its new GSM network in Tehran, Mashhad and Tabriz.

The network is the first private GSM service in the country under a licence awarded last year.

The service will be extended to Sari and Karaj by November and will expand to more than 70 cities by March 2007, says the company's main shareholder, South Africa's MTN (MEED 21:4:06).
