The Russian/local venture of Stroytransgaz and Aziz European Pipe Company is low bidder for all three main construction packages on the giant Shuqaiq water transmission system. The client, Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), will take about four months to evaluate bids.

Bidders submitted prices on 26 November for all three

packages with several options, the base being the installation of fusion-bonded, epoxy-coated carbon steel pipes. They also

submitted bids for a single option, combining all three packages.

On all three packages, the Stroytransgaz/Aziz group is low bidder, with an aggregate price of $1,032 million. It also submitted the lowest price overall for the single option. A group of Turkey's Yuksel with the local Bin Jarallah Establishment for Trading

& General Contracting submitted the second best offer on all three packages and the single option. The Dutch/local

consortium of A Hak International, Al-Rashid Trading & Contracting Company and SSEM is ranked third on price. The 900-kilometre water conveyance project will transport potable water from the planned 47 million-gallon-a-day independent water and power project at Shuqaiq to the southern cities of Abha and Jizan.

SWCC will be responsible for pipe procurement. Germany's ILF Consulting Engineers is the consultant.
