Two key power projects in the Cairo's electricity generation masterplan have moved forward. The state Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC) has signed a contract with France's Alstom for the supply of a 250-MW steam turbine for the 750-MW Nuberiya 3 combined cycle power plant.

The US' GE will supply two gas turbines and a team of the local Hassan Allam & Sons and Athens-based Consolidated Contractors International Company (CCC) will carry out civil and maritime works. EEHC is tendering the heat recovery steam generator package on the plant (MEED 15:12:06).

Cairo Electricity Production Company (CEPC) is evaluating bids for the steam turbines package on the 700-MW Cairo West thermal power plant.

Italy's Ansaldo Energia and Japan's Mitsubishi Heavy Industries have submitted offers. CEPC will also open bids for the boiler package from Ansaldo and Japan's Hitachi Corporation soon. The civils package will be awarded in July (MEED 16:2:07).
