Adco launches Hail gas field
Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (Adco) has launched the multi-billion-dollar offshore Hail gas field development by inviting contractors to submit expressions of interest for the marine works package.
The project involves the dredging of a 5-kilometre access channel and the reclamation of three artificial islands. Adco plans to award the contract in early 2008.
The Hail gas development covers the production of up to 500 million cubic feet a day of sour gas from shallow waters. It is unclear whether the gas extraction and processing element of the scheme will fall under the responsibility of Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Company (MEED 17:8:07).
