Kuwait's Mushrif Trading & Contracting has been awarded the estimated AED 213 million ($58 million) contract to build the souk component of the redevelopment of the central market in Abu Dhabi.

The contract involves the construction of a souk with 302 shops and a gross external area of about 27,000 square metres.

The contract is the latest award on the project. In September, the local/Lebanese Arabian Construction Company was awarded the AED 2,700 million ($736 million) contract

to build the development's

three towers.

Mushrif is also working on the raft and car park packages. The UK's Foster & Partners is the design consultant. Local developer Aldar Properties is the client (MEED 7:9:07).
