Deadline extended for Dolphin pipeline link

The technical bid deadline has been extended to 14 February for the contract to design and build the part of the Dolphin Energy gas pipeline from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah.

Commercial and technical bids were originally due to have been submitted at the end of January, but the client opted to give prequalifiers more time to prepare their technical proposals.

Financial bids will be submitted once technical evaluation is completed. It is unclear why the client decided to receive technical and commercial offers in different stages.

Nine international and local contractors have been invited to bid for the contract, which involves the engineering and installation of a 240-kilometre, 48-inch diameter gas pipeline between Taweelah in Abu Dhabi emirate and Qidfa in Fujairah (MEED 13:11:07).

The gas, which originates in Qatar, will serve the Fujairah II independent water and power project at Qidfa (MEED 27:4:07).
