Jordan's Energy & Mineral Resources Ministry has delayed the deadline for proposals for the independent power plant (IPP) at Al-Qatrana until April.
Bids were due to be submitted on 24 January, but companies now have until 10 April to bid.
The combined-cycle plant will have a capacity of 280-400 megawatts (MW) and will be developed on a build-own-operate basis.
A total of 11 companies were prequalified for the project in September. They include Turkey's Gama Energy and Japan's Mitsubishi Corporation; the UK's International Power with Saudi Oger; Belgium's Suez Energy International, and Germany's Siemens.
The plant will be the country's second IPP, following the 370 MW plant under construction at Al-Manakher. Dubai-based AES Oasis and Japan's Mitsui & Company are the developers on the Al-Manakher project (MEED 21:9:07).
