Al-Qaeda in Iraq claims responsibility for kidnapping

A group claiming to be Al-Qaeda in Iraq said on 23 July that it kidnapped two Algerian diplomats who disappeared two days before. 'The enemies of God and the tyrant countries should know that the head of the Algerian mission was taken from the most secured of areas,' the group said in a statement posted on the internet, which could not be verified.
