Algeria to push for family code reform
Algeria was expected on 14 September to press ahead with a controversial bill to improve women's rights, despite opposition from Islamic parties.The reform of Algeria's family code would ban men from divorcing their wives for no reason and grant women financial support from their ex-husbands.
