Algerian jobless rate falls to new low
Unemployment in Algeria fell to 12.3 per cent in 2006 from 15.3 per cent the previous year, according to the latest figures published by the national statistics office.'[It] is a positive result and we should be proud of it,' said Employment Minister Djamel Ould Abbes on 27 January.The fall in the jobless rate, which was 17.7 per cent in 2004, is promising for Algeria, but masks continuing social problems ...
