Algerian prime minister removed from post
Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika on 5 May announced the replacement of Prime Minister Ali Benflis with Ahmed Ouyahia, conditional on parliamentary approval. The move follows weeks of reports about differences between Benflis and Bouteflika over the pace of political and economic reform, with the president the more cautious.
