Ousted Algerian prime minister Ali Benflis on 6 May spoke out about the reasons for his dismissal by President Bouteflika, confirming speculation that the issue at stake was his refusal to ensure the ruling Front de Liberation National (FLN)'s support for Bouteflika's 2004 presidential bid (MEED 6:5:03).
