EIB extends reconstruction loan
The European Investment Bank (EIB) on 12 June announced the extension of a Eur 250 million ($293 million) loan to Algiers to assist in reconstruction after the devastating earthquake of 21 May, in which more than 2,000 people were killed. The funding was announced by EIB vice-president Philippe de Fontaine during a visit to the capital, which was itself affected by the quake.
