GSPC appoints new leader
Algeria's militant Islamist Salafist Group for Preaching & Combat (GSPC) has appointed a new leader, according to a statement on 7 September.Abu Musab al-Wadud replaced former leader Nabil Sahrawi, who was killed during clashes with the Algerian army (MEED 21:6:04). Al-Wadud, a renowned explosives expert, has been a member of the group since 1998.
