IMF concludes Article IV consultations with Algeria

The IMF on 24 February concluded its Article IV consultations with Algeria, urging the government to take advantage of its current strong economic position to accelerate economic reforms. Prudent macroeconomic policies in 1999-2000 and high oil prices allowed the government to improve the balance of payments and external debt positions, and to reduce inflation.
