Rebel attack kills 16

Suspected Algerian militants killed 16 people on 23 October in the first attack on civilians since the start of Ramadan. The victims were mainly young people who were travelling on a mountain road near the city of Medea. They were stopped at a rebel roadblock on their way to visit their farm lands in an area known for rebel activity, a civil defence officer said.
