Orascom joins up with Sonatrach

Egypt's Orascom Construction Industries (OCI) and state energy company Sonatrach have formed a joint venture company to build two fertiliser plants near Arzew. Sorfert Algerie will build an estimated $750 million, 1 million-tonne-a-year (t/y) greenfield ammonia and urea plant, and a 700,000-t/y ammonia plant.Sonatrach has committed to enter a 20-year gas supply agreement with the new company.
