BP, Sonatrach sign In Amenas deal
Algerian state energy company Sonatrachhas signed the final terms of an agreement with the UK's BPto double gas production from the In Amenas gas development in the Illizi basin, close to the Libyan border. The four-field development is expected to yield some 7,000 million cubic metres a year (cm/y) of gas and condensates, with work due for completion in the fourth quarter of 2005.
