Abu Dhabi awards Habshan nitrogen deal to Canadians
SNC Lavalin to design oil field facilities worth $10m
Canada’s SNC Lavalin has won a $10m contract to design nitrogen injection and carbon dioxide capture facilities for the Habshan oil field in Abu Dhabi.
Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Company (Gasco) awarded the front-end engineering and design (Feed) contract on 1 February, according to an SNC Lavalin statement.
The company will design nitrogen injection facilities at the field, alongside a unit to capture and re-inject any nitrogen which escapes during the process and a similar facility to capture and re-inject any carbon dioxide emissions. Gasco plans to use the injected gases to increase its production rate at the field.
SNC Lavalin will also conduct pre-Feed studies to examine the feasibility of the project. The nitrogen for the project will be provided by a nitrogen plant at Mirfa. It is being developed by UAE/German joint venture Elixier.
