Sonatrach announces two further gas finds
State energy company Sonatrach announced in early May another gas find, bringing the total number of discoveries this year to eight. The discovery was made by a consortium led by France's Total in the Timimoun basin, 500 kilometres south of Hassi R'Mel. Drilling of the Hassi Mahdjib 3 well yielded production test results of 235,000 cubic metres a day of gas. Further work is now being conducted to appraise the potential of the well and the field as a whole.
