Sonatrach makes oil find
Sonatrach has announced an oil discovery at block 427 in the Amguide-Messaoud area of the giant Hassi Messaoud field. Initial tests indicated a flow of 678 barrels a day (b/d) of oil and 473,600 cubic feet a day (cf/d) of gas. Algiers intends to increase oil production to 1.5 million b/d this year and to 2 million b/d by 2010 from the current 1.4 million b/d (MEED 16:12:05, Cover Story). Nine oil and gas finds were made by Sonatrach and its partners in 2005.
