Statoil gains council's approval for farm-in

The Council of Ministers has given approval for Norway's Statoilto purchase 49 per cent of the 65 per cent equity stake held by the UK's BP in the In Salah gas field development, which came on stream in late July. The two companies originally agreed the $740 million deal in June last year but had to wait for approval from both Algiers and the EU, which granted regulatory approval late last year.
