Conformity certificates to be needed for appliances in UAE
Conformity certificates will be required for nine home appliances as a prerequisite for being imported into the UAE in the first half of 2010, Emirates Business has reported. Products to be controlled are extension cords, storage water heaters, electric irons, microwave ovens, washing machines, electric stoves, refrigerators and freezers, water dispensers and oven toasters. 'These products affect consumer's life, health and safety and the environment,' Abdulla Al Muaini, director of Conformity Affairs at Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology, said.
