Fixed-line licences fail to incite interest
The post and telecom regulator L'Autorite de Regulation de la Poste & des Telecommunications (ARPT) announced on 29 April that it had received no bids for two national and international fixed-line licences. Speaking at what should have been the opening of prices, ARPT interim president Mohammed Benfodil said that Algiers would study the failure to attract bidders before attempting to relaunch the licence process at a later date.
