Third GSM network launched
Wataniya Telecom Algeria (WTA) has launched the country's third GSM network, known as Nedjma. The network currently covers the provinces of Algiers, Boumerdes, Tipaza, Oran and Constantine. WTA, the local subsidiary of Kuwait's Wataniya Telecom, won Algeria's third GSM licence last December after submitting the high bid of $421 million. Capgemini is the project manager (MEED 6:8:04).
