Boeing will decide on re-engine for 737 this year
Jim McNerney, chairman, president and chief executive of Boeing has said the company will decide this year whether to put new engines on the existing design for 737 aircraft or to design all-new planes for delivery many years later, Down Jones has reported. The plane maker will also decide by the end of this year, or early in 2011, on upgrades for the larger 777, he said. With a number of upgrade options, including redesigning the wings, a new 777 would compete head-to-head with the upcoming Airbus A350-1000.
