The Omani government has signed 36 agreements worth OR205.5m ($534m) to develop a wide range of transport projects including ports, roads and civil aviation facilities.
The largest contracts were signed in the ports sector, with a RO170m deal to build the dry dock at Duqm agreed with the local Galfar Engineering & Contracting and South Korea's Daewoo Engineering & Construction.
A deal was also signed for the consultancy and management work at Duqm – also with Daewoo – as well as phase three of construction of the berths at Sohar Industrial Port, and a tourist terminal at Sultan Qaboos Port (MEED 30:1:08).
A series of further deals were agreed covering road building projects across the country, as well as a contract for a temporary security fence at Muscat International Airport.
