09 August 2010

Contract includes installation of a substation

Saudi Petrochemical Company (Sadaf) has awarded a contract to Switzerland’s ABB for power management services at its Jubail manufacturing complex on Saudi Arabia’s eastern coast.

The $20m contract covers managing the power at Sadaf’s Jubail manufacturing complex.

ABB’s role focuses on improving network efficiency and reducing electricity losses while improving the stability of the power supply.

The company will also build a new substation together with high and medium voltage electrical systems into the plant’s electrical grid.

ABB won another electricity transmission deal in Saudi Arabia in April covering six new substations that will be installed across the kingdom.

The petrochemical complex owner, Sadaf, is owned jointly by Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic) and Shell Chemicals Arabia.
