ABB wins work at Ras Laffan

Europe’s ABB has been awarded a $233m contract to supply and install electrical systems for a new power plant at Ras Laffan.

The order, placed by South Korea’s Hyundai Engineering and Construction covers the electrical systems for the Ras Laffan C natural gas-fired combi power plant that will have capacity of 2,730MW of power and 63 million gallons a day of desalinated water.

Mitsui is the EPC contractor. Japan's Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is the power plant contractor and France's Sidem is the desalination plant contractor. Hyundai is the contractor for the remaining work (MEED 25:3:08).
