Abdeslam Ahizone

Biography: Abdeslam Ahizone was appointed chairman of Maroc Telecom in 2001 after serving as CEO from 1998. Maroc Telecom is Morocco’s leading mobile phone operator, with France’s Vivendi owning a majority stake.
Marco Telecom has stakes in operators in Mauritania, Gabon and Burkina Faso. In 2005, Ahizone was appointed to Vivendi’s management board. Between 1995-97, Ahizone worked for the Moroccan government as managing director of the Office National des Postes et Telecommunications. He was telecommunications minister for a year before joining Maroc Telecom.
In 2008, he was appointed chairman of the Moroccan Association for Telecommunications Professionals and chairman of the Moroccan television channel Medi1sat. He left this role in 2010.
Ahizone graduated from Paris’ Ecole Nationale Superieure des Telecommunications in 1977.
