Biography: Abdul Sattar al-Taie is director of Qatar National Research Fund, a body set up by the Qatar Foundation to provide financial support to research projects.
He previously held many positions in Iraq, including secretary general of the National Committee for Technology Transfer, co-ordinator of the Pan-Industrial Sector Research Committee, director of the Food & Drugs Projects Implementation Commission, and director of the Industrial Co-ordination Commission.
He was a key player in the reconstruction of the electricity, oil and industrial sectors in Iraq after the first Gulf War, and prepared several assessment studies on the topic for the World Bank.
Al-Taie has a doctorate in chemical engineering from Imperial College London.
