Biography: Abdulelah al-Kindy was appointed head of retail banking at Emirates NBD in June, replacing Suvo Sarkar, who left to join the National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD).
The bank is the UAE’s biggest lender by assets and is one of the largest retail banks with 132 branches and 705 ATMs. Al-Kindy has more than 26 years’ banking experience in the UAE. Prior to taking up his current role, he was charged with leading Emirates NBD’s retail banking operations in Abu Dhabi and Al-Ain. He also held the post of assistant general manager of retail sales. Other former positions include head of mass retail & sales at Emirates Bank International and head of retail at Emirates Islamic Bank.
Al-Kindy holds a diploma in management from Swiss business school IMD and a certificate in strategic innovation and leadership from the US’ Hult International Business School.
