Abdullah Salem al-Turifi

Biography Abdullah Salem al-Turifi took up his current position as CEO of the UAE’s federal securities regulator in 2003.
Previously, Al-Turifi worked in several key government and banking positions. He was the assistant undersecretary for economic affairs at the Economy & Trade Ministry in 1999, where he was responsible for economic relationships between the UAE and other countries. Prior to this, he served as the director of Hamriyah Free-Zone in Sharjah from 1996.
He also worked as an investment department director for the GCC general directorate in Riyadh. His banking career includes posts at the National Bank of Abu Dhabi, Citibank Dubai and the Gulf Islamic Investment Company. Al-Turifi is the first secretary general of the UAE-based Union of Arab Securities Authorities.
He has a bachelor’s degree in policy and business administration and a diploma in banking.
