Abdulsattar al-Rasheed
Position: Chief executive officer, Qatar Electricity & Water Company (QEWC)
Biography: Abdulsattar al-Rasheed is the CEO of QEWC. He joined the Electricity & Water Ministry in 1982 as a mechanical engineer at the Ras Abu Fontas A power station. In 1985, he was promoted to head of maintenance and later as operations manager in 1990.
Between 1993 and 1999, Al-Rasheed worked as project manager at the QR4.3bn ($1.81bn) Ras Abu Fontas B scheme. In April 1999, Al-Rasheed joined QEWC as station manager. In November 2001, he was promoted to production manager of QEWC and served as the project director of the Ras Abu Fontas B extension project and as coordinator of the Ras Laffan C IWPP.
In 2005, Al-Rasheed became executive managing director of Qatar Power Company which is responsible for the Ras Laffan B IWPP. Al-Rasheed has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from California State University in the US.
