Total volume of cargo handled at the airport also increased in the first three months of 2010
Abu Dhabi International Airport has recorded a 13.8 per cent increase in passenger traffic in the first quarter of 2010 compared to the same period last year.
Total passenger volume in the first quarter was 2.6 million passengers in 2010, compared to 2.3 million in the first three months of 2009.
Abu Dhabi International also posted a 22.2 per cent increase in cargo tonnage during the same period and a 13.9 per cent increase in aircraft movements, according to figures released by Abu Dhabi Airports Company (Adac).
The airport handled 100,378 tonnes of cargo in the first quarter compared to 82,146 tonnes in during the same period in 2009.
Most of the traffic handled at the airport in 2010 travelled to five main destinations with 21 per cent of passengers flying to Bangkok, London, Doha, Manila and Bahrain in the first three months of the year.
