The Abu Dhabi Airport Company (Adac) has begun to manage and run a new airport on Sir Bani Yas Island, off the coast of Abu Dhabi, with domestic flights expected to begin this month. The terminal was built by the Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC). Under a partnership agreement between TDIC and Adac, the island's airport is being additionally upgraded by Adac to be a fully-certified airport capable of receiving domestic and short-haul international commercial flights. The full schedule of work is due for completion by the end of 2010.
