Contract is to replace two liquid storage tanks on the island
Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Company (Adgas) has awarded front-end engineering and design (feed) contract for the replacement of two liquid storage tanks on its Das Island gas hub to US-based Shaw Group.
Adgas is seeking to increase the capacity of the tanks and the loading systems to match modern naphtha tankers capacities.
The tanks are part of the Adgas liquefied natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas facilities on Das Island, the centre of storage and export operations for oil and gas extracted from the offshore fields of Abu Dhabi. The tanks hold paraffinic naptha, produced as a by-product in the island’s processing facilities.
Located 180 kilometres from Abu Dhabi city and close to the Umm Shaif and Zakum fields, the island houses oil and gas processing, storage and export facilities, the utilities, power generation and accommodation sites.
