19 January 2010

A UAE government official has said that the economy of the emirate of Abu Dhabi will grow by up to 4% this year, but oil will not be the main driver behind it, Reuters has reported. "There are many sectors that will play a stronger role in our GDP," Hamad Abdullah al-Mass, executive director for international economic relations at the Department of Economic Development told the news service. Almost 60% of Abu Dhabi's GDP comes from the oil sector, but the emirate plans to reduce its share to 40% by 2030.
