Ducab Aluminium to invest $60m in 50,000 tonne-a-year plant at Kizad, Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi’s state-owned General Holdings Corporation (Senaat) has set up a new joint venture with Dubai-based Ducab to build an aluminium rod mill at Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad).

The plant will have the capacity to produce 50,000 tonnes a year (t/y) of aluminium rod products using raw materials from the newly expanded Emirates Aluminium (Emal) smelter nearby.

The project, which is expected to cost AED220m ($60m), will manufacture electrical-conductive (EC) grade and aluminium alloy rods, wires and bare overhead conductors.

The new joint venture is called Ducab Aluminium. Ducab currently manufactures copper rods at its mill in Mussafah near Abu Dhabi city.
