Abu Dhabi issues fresh target for oil production

03 April 2008
Abu Dhabi’s state-run offshore oil firm, Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (Adma-Opco), expects to raise its crude capacity to 1 million barrels-a-day (b/d) within a decade.

Ali Al-Jarwan, general manager of Adma-Opco, told Adnoc’s in-house magazine that he expected to lift production to the 1 million b/d mark, from around 600,000 b/d.

"Our projects cover a wide scope mainly in three areas: replacement and upgrade of existing assets, expansion in the existing surface facilities to debottleneck restrictions and improve handling of bigger capacities, and thirdly development of a new scheme to increase the sustainable production capacity,” Jarwan said.

The UAE produces around 2.5 million b/d of oil.
