Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) has officially opened its $6.85bn Habshan 5 gas processing plant.
The state oil company inaugurated the plant on 24 November.
The gas processing facility is linked to Adnoc’s offshore Umm Sheif gas field via a 215km pipeline, and contains four gas processing trains and four sulphur recovery units. The daily production capacity of the plant is 12,000 tonnes of natural gas liquids, 1.1 billion of sales gas, 5,200 tonnes of liquid sulphur and 3,000 barrels of condensate.
Speaking at the opening of the plant, Sultan al-Jaber, UAE Minister of state and Adnoc CEO, said: “Habshan 5 will help Adnoc provide the gas necessary to meet the nation’s increasing demand for electricity. It is a critical component in delivering our integrated gas strategy as we continue to focus on extracting maximum value from our assets, for the benefit of the nation.”
