Abu Dhabi has announced plans to develop the largest space centre in the region, with four satellites of its own, at a cost of Dhs3.7bn ($1.03bn). The Gulf Earth Observation Centre, which will be fully operational in 2013, will receive and analyse data from satellites and be a fully commercial facility marketing its images and data on the international market.
